Accessibility Statement
How this website is built and checked so everyone can use it, what we know still falls short, and how to reach us for help.
Effective and last updated November 3, 2026.
1.Our commitment
Center for Performance Improvement LLC wants everyone to be able to use this website, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, voice control, magnification or other assistive technology. We keep accessibility in mind whenever we add or change anything on the site.
2.Conformance status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) are the international standard for making websites usable by people with disabilities. This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially conformant means that some content does not fully meet the standard: everything we built was designed and tested to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA, and the only exceptions are the content from other companies listed in section 5. We also follow the newer WCAG 2.2 where it adds more, such as larger tap targets and keeping focused items in view.
3.How we checked
Our website developer, Chamberlin Studio, evaluated the site on October 26, 2026. Every page type (the home page, programs, each toolkit tool, the Playbook and its articles, videos, About, contact and these legal pages) was scanned with the axe-core accessibility checker at computer and phone widths, with no issues found, and the site was checked by hand:
- moving through every page, menu, form, tool and dialog with the keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline on every background;
- zooming to 200 percent, and narrowing the screen to 320 pixels without sideways scrolling;
- turning on the reduced motion setting, and pausing the moving logo row;
- checking text and control contrast (including words over photos, measured against the brightest part of the photo behind them), form labels and error messages, headings and page titles.
4.What we did
- Every page has a skip link, clear headings in order, and a unique title.
- Every form field has a visible label, and errors are announced and explained in words.
- Text meets contrast rules, and nothing depends on color alone.
- The toolkit works by keyboard and screen reader: the walk-around checklist uses real checkboxes and announces its progress, the Training Check moves focus to each new question, and the calculator announces new totals after you stop typing.
- The faint CPI logo at the bottom of each page turns slowly in the background and stands still when your device asks for reduced motion.
- The photo at the top of the main pages settles into place once, in about two seconds, as the page opens, and scrolling with a mouse wheel or trackpad glides to a stop. Neither happens when your device asks for reduced motion, and scrolling by touch or keyboard works as usual.
- Videos play only when you choose, in YouTube's player, and each video page has its title and description in text.
- Photos have descriptions, and decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
5.Known limitations
- YouTube videos. The video player comes from YouTube, and we cannot change how its controls work. Captions depend on each video. If you need a description of a video, contact us and we will help.
- Older articles. Articles first published on our previous website were moved here and cleaned up, but a few may still use formatting that reads oddly with a screen reader. Tell us about any page that gives you trouble and we will fix it.
6.Technology relied upon
The site relies on HTML, CSS, JavaScript and WAI-ARIA. It is designed to work with current versions of Safari, Chrome, Edge and Firefox, and with the screen readers VoiceOver, TalkBack and NVDA.
